Edgar was born in Campeche, Mexico in 1933. He studied drawing in Campeche and later,
painting and photography in Puebla and Mexico City. These studies gave
him the ability to settle down to paint anything. Since a young boy,
Edgar has always been linked to drawing, and although trained as an
engineer, his main joy has always been on the canvas. Ideas come from
just about anywhere - from a colourful flower to Colonial Mexican
Architecture. It is not what Edgar sees, but the way he sees it.
Edgar has been painting for more than 40 years and had
several major exhibitions throughout Mexico.
About Edgars' Work:
The ever changing
reality is made visible in form and colour through the paintings of
Edgar Cetina. He develops his own idea, step by step, to finally create
a complete composition on the canvas with his unique style. The
influence of abstract expressionism is evident and a tendency to
geometrical lines, with an influence of pop-art.
His collection of
colourful paintings and brilliant and unique geometrical forms are so
instantly recognisable as Edgars' paintings. 'Paper Bird' is a perfect
example of his depurated style.
For Edgar, the
composition within the painting is as important as the colour. The
latter he enjoys, exploring every piece is an exciting challenge. He has
a marvellous and mature ability to work with a very wide range of
chromatic colours, all mixed with great talent and an emotional touch.
His work is also
greatly influenced by clean lines and unchaotic symmetry. Abstracts
allow him to use geometrical forms of bright colours that leap of the
canvas.
Every painting is an original oil on canvas
signed by the artist
(
All
paintings are mounted and ready to frame).
Please note: some of the
paintings may take up to two weeks to be delivered as they are brought from
